Return and Refund Policy

Receipt required for ALL returns/exchanges


General Merchandise and Trade Books

  • Returns or exchanges must be completed within 14 days of purchase.
  • Items must be in resalable condition, with all tags attached, in original packaging, including: manuals, and registration cards (if applicable).
  • Computer Store Merchandise may be subject to a restocking fee of up to 15%.
  • NONREFUNDABLE MERCHANDISE:
    • All Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) purchases are FINAL SALE including (but not limited to) face masks, hand sanitizers, and thermometers.
    • ALL clearance items, medical instruments, medical books, lab coats, scrubs, reference exam books, testing books, health & beauty products, plants, rain gear, footwear, Ray-Ban Sunglasses, and Hydroflasks.
    • Calculators, headphones, goggles, and voice recorders are NONREFUNDABLE once opened.

Triton Tech Department Price Protection policy

The UC San Diego Bookstore Triton Tech Department is committed to providing customers with the best products at competitive prices. Our pricing is subject to change based on supplier costs, market conditions, and other factors.

Price Changes

Prices for products in the Triton Tech Department are subject to change without prior notice. We strive to update our pricing promptly to reflect any adjustments. Customers are encouraged to check our website or visit the store for the most up-to-date pricing information.

Price Protection Period

Our price protection period is set at 14 days from the date of purchase. Within this period, if the price of a product is reduced, customers are eligible for a refund of the price difference. We will not be able to offer a price adjustment for products purchased more than 14 days prior to a price change. After this period, the originally paid price will be considered final.

How to Request a Price Adjustment

Customers seeking a price adjustment within the 14-day period must present their original purchase receipt at the point of sale. The refund will be issued based on the price difference between the original purchase price and the current price.


Textbooks

  • RETURN/EXCHANGE DEADLINES:
    • Fall, Winter, & Spring Quarters: Saturday at the end of Week 1
    • Summer Session, Extension, & ELI: 3 days after the first class meeting
    • E-Books: refundable within 14 days of the customer accessing the content, or 30 days after the purchase is made (without customer accessing the content), whichever occurs first. Additionally, refund requests cannot be fulfilled if more than 10% of the product has been viewed or if any page(s) of the content has been printed.
    • Course material sales FINAL after the above deadlines
    • Exceptions will be made to above deadlines for dropped or cancelled classes, if requested by the last day to drop a class without a “W.” A Term Audit showing the dropped class or proof of drop MUST accompany return
  • Course materials purchased in new condition must be returned in new condition. Materials with bent or dirty corners, spine damage, scratches, markings, or other signs of wear will be returned at the used retail price.
  • NONREFUNDABLE:
    • Course materials with broken software seals and/or exposed access codes, course readers, SOM & Pharmacy syllabi, and all mini-block course materials.

Online Orders

We accept returns within fourteen days of purchase date. Items for return must be in saleable condition, with all original tags attached. We will not refund items that have been washed or worn. If an item arrives damaged, please contact Customer Service.

Before sending your items for a size exchange, contact Customer Service to make sure we have the size you would like.
To return your items to the Bookstore, please mail them using the service of your choice to the following address:

Please include the receipt and indicate if you would like a refund or if you would like to exchange the item for a different size. Exchanged sizes will be shipped to you at no charge. If you would like to return the original item and order a different item, you will need to send us the item for return and then place a new order on our website.

Refunds will be credited to the original form of payment when the merchandise is received at the bookstore. Please allow at least 3-5 business days for the refund to reach your account, depending on your banking institution. If you paid with a bookstore gift card we cannot return the funds to the original gift card, and a new one will be issued.

Shipping costs are not refundable. Thank you.

Mail-in Returns for In-store Purchases

The Bookstore does not store any payment information in our system, so we are unable to process refunds back to the original form of payment for mailed-in returns. Mailed returns will be refunded in the form of a gift card, which can be used toward a future purchase. Items will be accepted for return within 14 days of purchase date, with original tags attached, in saleable condition. Please see detailed return policy on this page for which items are accepted for returns.

When mailing items back, please include a copy of your in-store receipt along with your full name, email address, and phone number when returning items by mail.

For a full refund to your original form of payment, we strongly encourage you to return items in person, along with your original receipt and payment.

If you need to exchange a size please check with the store for availability and we are happy to check on its status.
