The M5 Pro introduces the Apple-designed Fusion Architecture, a state-of-the-art design that connects two dies into a single SoC. this brings together two 3rd-gen 3nm dies with high bandwidth and low latency using advanced packaging. The two dies include a powerful 15-Core CPU, a scalable 16-Core GPU, Media Engine, unified memory controller, Neural Engine, and Thunderbolt 5 capabilities. The M5 Pro features a 15-Core CPU with five super cores and 10 performance cores.
The super core is the highest-performance core design with fast single-threaded performance, driven in part by increased front-end bandwidth, an improved cache hierarchy, and enhanced branch prediction.
The performance core is optimized to deliver greater power-efficient, multithreaded performance for pro workloads. Together with the super cores, the M5 Pro delivers up to 2.5x higher multithreaded performance than M1 Pro. The super cores and performance cores give the MacBook Pro a huge performance boost to handle the most CPU-intensive pro workloads, like analyzing complex data or running demanding simulations with unparalleled ease.
AI Performance and Graphics
The M5 Pro pairs the 15-Core CPU with a next-gen 16-Core GPU. With a Neural Accelerator in each GPU core, the M5 Pro speeds up AI tasks, such as image generation from diffusion models, large language model (LLM) prompt processing, and on-device transformer model training. With more CPU cores than the M4 Pro, the CPU architecture in the M5 Pro boosts multithreaded performance by up to 30% for pro workloads. The M5 Pro supports up to 24GB of unified memory with higher unified memory bandwidth up to 307 GB/s. With all these features, the M5 Pro delivers over 4x the peak GPU compute compared to the M4 Pro, and over 6x the peak GPU compute than the M1 Pro for AI performance.
The M5 Pro has an enhanced shader core with 2nd-gen dynamic caching and hardware-accelerated mesh shading, delivering up to 20% higher graphics performance than the M4 Pro and 2.2x higher than the M1 Pro. And with Apple's 3rd-gen ray-tracing engine, the M5 Pro provides up to a 35% graphics uplift in apps using this rendering technique as compared to the M4 Pro.

ProMotion & P3 Wide Color Gamut
With ProMotion technology, the MacBook Pro automatically varies the refresh rate to match the motion of your onscreen content. This helps preserve battery life while also making tasks feel more fluid and responsive. This means that the display can have up to a 120 Hz refresh rate. Video editors will also have the option to lock in a refresh rate that is optimal for their footage.
