Mycological marvels! Whether edible or poisonous, all mushrooms can be appreciated for their astonishing variety of form, texture, and color. Mushrooms can also pack a powerful punch in terms of nutritional and medicinal values, and they are respected for their sustainability and low environmental impact. Experts enthuse about their potential to heal the planet’s ills. Artist Alexander Viazmensky calls mushrooms “flowers of the woods.” For decades he has specialized in painting life-size mushroom portraits and personality-filled bouquets. He teaches classes in botanical art in Russia and the United States, and his artwork is held in museums and scientific collections around the world.
